Did you know there’s a federal program that provides internet connectivity and related upgrades to schools and libraries at a discounted rate? It’s called the Schools and Libraries Program, commonly referred to as the E-rate Program, and it can be a great benefit for your school, school system, or library.
The E-Rate Program provides discounts ranging between 20 and 90 percent based on economic and urban/rural status.
The discounts apply to services like internet, Wi-Fi, and the hardware and software necessary to provide them.
Just think of the benefits to your students, teachers, and library patrons that wireless internet access would provide—and at up to 90 percent off the going rate. This would allow service providers like Access Technologies
to implement or upgrade connectivity technology in your institution(s) for a fraction of the usual costs, placing these critical tools within reach for the first time for many.
As with any federal program, there is quite a lot of paperwork involved, so be sure to start the process as soon as possible. Following the submission of the first application form there is a 28-day waiting period for the bidding process before you can proceed. You can read about getting started in the E-rate Program here
